Aging Skin...Why?
Best Anti Aging Care
Find out how aging skin happens, what are the causes that influence the appearance of wrinkles and what can we do prevent, diminish and treat these aging skin problems. Most of us know by now that no one can avoid the aging process and if someone tells you differently, is not true.
As we get older the body and the
structure of the skin
experience a number of natural changes. These changes are due to two types of aging:
Intrinsic or chronological aging
Is inevitable and is determined by our genetic disposition. It is also known as "the natural aging process" where the collagen, a protein that supports the skin slows down and the elastine, a substance that gives the skin its structure, is reduced. There is a slower cell turnover and loss of moisture, making the skin dryer.
Intrinsic aging produces this changes in the skin:
fine lines and wrinkles
, skin becomes thinner, there is a loss of underlying fat, loss of elasticity and firmness and as a consequence we experience
sagging skin
and loss of bone density in the face. The other type of aging skin is called:
Extrinsic or enviromental aging
Starts very early in life and is caused by a number of external factors, that make the epidermis age prematurely. The main factor is sun exposure or photo-aging, which counts for 90% of premature aging skin.
Other external factors are:
- Pollution
- Wind
- Heat
- Expression lines
- Sleeping patterns
- Gravity
As well as bad habits like:
- Poor diet
- Alcohol
- Not drinking enough water
- Smoking, which give us
smoking wrinkles
.
Although intrinsic aging is inevitable, only counts for 10 or 20%, while extrinsic aging is most preventable, so the sooner we start taking good care of our skin to stop skin wrinkles, the better will be.
You might notice that some people age better than others and this has a lot to do with having inherited good genes, but remember that you can prevent premature aging, and that is never too late, to start taking the necessary steps and be in your way to obtain a younger looking skin.
