Food Rich In Antioxidant



Antioxidant food is essential in our diet if we want to remain healthy and active. We should incorporate the following antioxidant fruits in our menus. If you find difficult eating your five a day just try to add them to salads, soups, yogurts, desserts, cereals, porridge or have them as a juice or smoothie.





Antioxidant Food Always remember that is better to eat some than none at all, so try to eat what you can.


Berries


All berries have a high amount of antioxidants, especially cranberries, blackberries and blueberries.

Blueberries are often referred as superfoods and recommended in many anti aging diets to help fight several diseases and to improve some skin conditions.

Researchers in US advise to drink one to three glasses of blueberry juice a day, to reduce the risk of some types of cancers, and heart related conditions. These anti oxidant foods are also beneficial for:

  • Improving eye-sight.

  • Preventing urinary track infections.

  • Strengthen collagen, improving the skin's appearance.

You can see why blueberries are considered a top antioxidant food. They can be prepared in many ways and added to cereals and yogurts. Blueberries are also very low in calories, good for people watching their weight, and with all its antioxidant power you really have no excuse.

Grapes


Grapes are one of the top antioxidant foods. There are around 3000 different types of grapes worlwide. Grapes contain up to twenty antioxidants, and are a good source of minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin E . Grapes contain a substance called "resveratrol" which lowers the risk of heart related conditions and is used as an skin care ingredient in antioxidant skin care .

This top antioxidant food also contain "flavonoids", and "elagic acid" which are antioxidants that help the body fight age related diseases and cancer. Grapes are also good for:

  • Constipation, due to the fiber that contains.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits boost the immune system, and are essential in a healthy diet, especially in winter, to protect us from colds and infections.

These antioxidant fruits are also beneficial for:

  • Bones and teeth.

  • Help with iron absorption.

  • Help with the metabolism of fats.

  • Good for constipation.

  • Feeds the skin, improving collagen production, and the skin's appearance.


Eating one or two pieces of citrus fruits every day, will help you to keep colds at bay and will improve aging skin.



Papaya


Papaya is another exquisite antioxidant food and exotic fruit full of vitamins such as vitamin a , vitamin C, folic acid and vitamin E. Papayas also contain fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and lycope. These antioxidant rich foods will feed your skin inside out, leaving you with softer and younger looking skin.

Dry fruit also have an important antioxidant activity, but they have a high sugar content, so just be careful if you are watching your weight.

Antioxidant Food Liquidise the following antioxidant foods to kick start the day before breakfast or during the day as a snack.

Its antioxidant power protects the skin, sight and health in general. You need a handful of carrots, strawberries, orange, apple and tomato. Add a few mint leaves and enjoy.

Another great antioxidant juice is to liquidise an apple with some chunks of pineapple, one spoon of honey, few drops of lemon and a spoon of spirulina.
