Theory Behind Face Exercises



The theory behind is that contracting and relaxing the facial muscles will improve muscle tone and thus the face will be more defined and relaxed. It makes sense to think that if we exercise the muscles in our bodies to tone them up, the same will happen for the muscles in our face.

Some people will argue with that, saying that the muscles in the face are smaller and don't respond to movement in the same way as the larger muscles in the body.

I'm not pretending to be an expert and I can only talk for personal experience. I have my own theory and it works for me. I have been practising facial exercises for years and I can honestly say that they help my face to look younger, but with some exceptions.



How To Do Facial Exercises



Well, when practicing the exercises I stretch the skin with the hands, making sure there are no wrinkles on the skin and work the muscles underneath. I always think that if facial expressions give you fine lines and wrinkles over time, it makes sense to think that the same could be applied to the facial exercises in which you have to adopt a wrinkled expression.

At first you can start with few repetitions and as you get used to and the muscles become stronger, increase the repetitions. The goal is to do as many repetitions as you can, several times a day until the facial muscles tired.

This is only my personal experience and I'm sure it will be different for other people. For me face exercises form part of my daily skin care routine and I practice them a minimum of twice daily, you need to be constant if you want to get all the benefits of facial exercise. If you are consistent believe me; you will soon see great results!
