Wrinkle Fillers : Searching For A Younger Face

"Improving Your Appearance"

Wrinkle Fillers

As time goes by, wrinkle fillers or cosmetic injections have became increasingly popular. The search for a younger looking face is on. Although topical products help us to fight aging skin, sometimes is not enough, that is why many people are turning to dermal fillers.

And why not? I always think if it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone, go for it! But of course it has to be an informed decision. Finding out what facial fillers will suit your needs best, the pros and cons and a qualified and experienced physician.

Cosmetic injections are the choice for many of us, that are looking for alternative ways to rejuvenate the skin, but don't want to resort to plastic surgery. The results can be seen immediately with most fillers, not to mention that they are cheaper and quicker.

Cosmetic fillers are not only used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles , but also to correct scars, and to reshape and give volume to some parts of the face such as lips, cheeks, chin,...

Wrinkle fillers have been around for decades, and because of the advance in technology and the competence between companies to be able to market the best ones, new types of fillers are created often. And more fillers mean more choices. So many choices in fact, that we don't know where to start.

Do your research first, and as i said before choose a qualified surgeon, dermatologist or registered nurse, that will give you honest information about the treatment. I will recommend that you see more than one professional, maybe three. Why? Because is better to have a choice, and see which one have understood better what you really want.

Believe me, i say this for personal experience. I went to a dermatologist few years back. I wanted to give more volume to my cheeks, so i read an article in a magazine recommending this doctor. I didn't think twice and went to see him. I assumed that because it was featured in that magazine, it has to be good. Wrong!!!

I must admit the injections were painful, anything in the name of vanity! I wasn't offered anesthetic, just some ice. Some blood came out, just a little and my cheeks were slightly red and bruised. >.

The worst thing was that i didn't notice any difference at all. So i asked my sister and she said "maybe a little, but very little". I went back to see the dermatologist, and told him that i wasn't happy with the result. He said that he thought it was ok, but he will do it again.

Again came the pain and again no difference. Not only that, but my skin got infected (got ok with medication). As you can see i wasted my time and my money. I don't tell you this to put you off, but to make you aware of what can happen when you don't make an informed choice. Research, research and research!

There is not a perfect wrinkle filler. The choice of the injectable should be made by yourself, and the physician, based on your facial features and the look you want to achieve. Write down the things you want to ask the practitioner about the treatment.

Things to consider are

  • Safety and Effectiviness
  • Is FDA approved?
  • Possible allergic reactions
  • Anesthetic
  • How long will it last?
  • How many injections you will need
  • How often you will have to go back for more treatments
  • How much will it cost?
  • What happens if you are unhappy with the result

Ask to see before and after photos, that way you will have an idea of what to expect. Is better to start with temporary wrinkle fillers because they last only few months, just in case you are not happy with the result. In the other hand if you are happy, you may want to consider a permanent one.
